Making Space: Views from PGA WORKS Beyond The Green at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

There’s something to be said about making space — making space for ourselves, yes, but more importantly making space for others and the next generation. When we create space there is a ripple effect that occurs and opens the door for something new to happen. It disrupts the normal flow and breaks down the barriers that can often stop us in our tracks on the road to becoming who we are meant to be.

This is what PGA WORKS Beyond The Green was designed to do — create space, disrupt and lead us to something unexpected in the best way possible.

PGA WORKS Beyond The Green is a connecting point for all of us through golf. The special event held in conjunction with PGA of America Championships strives to make a sustainable impact in our host markets by partnering with local community organizations to provide students access to industry leaders, executives and influencers to inspire change while engaging them in our industry workforce and beyond.

It goes without saying that the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship being held this week on Fields Ranch’s East Course provided the perfect backdrop for over 35 young women to experience all the game has to offer them in a career and more. Let’s take a look back at what was a memorable Monday at the Home of the PGA of America.

June in Texas can sometimes be overbearing. It’s hot and there’s no way around it, but you simply cannot beat these views from the fourth floor of the Home of the PGA of America. This was the scene as the sun rose on Monday of Championship week at the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship — there’s just something about this place.

The stage was set for an exciting day. One could not help but feel the buzz and the anticipation for what the rest of the day held in store. Walking in to the Home of the PGA of America during a major championship — there is so much to take in, sounds to hear and sights to see. One by one, the girls filed in to see what opportunities lie ahead.

Ladies and gentlemen, our hosts for the day, Addie Parker – Travel and Lifestyle Editor for Skratch Golf and Coach Shayain – LPGA Professional and Golf Influencer. The duo returned as hosts for this edition of Beyond The Green, bringing all the vibes with them and then some. “Beyond the Green is more than an event – it’s a space for the girls today to explore possibilities they may not have realized were for them,” says Coach Shayain. “Yes, playing golf is a great skill set to have down the road, but the game can be used for so much more in life and your career.”

The girls took a field trip downstairs for a quick clinic and lesson rotation with members of the PGA of America Education Team. From practicing chipping on the massive indoor short game area, to using the state-of-the-art hitting bays and learning about the mechanics of the golf swing.

Next, the girls were treated to an all-star panel titled “On Course to Becoming YOU.” The panel aimed to inspire the next generation while fostering meaningful conversation around what it means to rise in the professional world while staying true to who you are. The panel included Nwayne Davis - VP of Legal Operations for the Dallas Mavericks, Gloria Salinas - SVP & Chief Growth Officer for Frisco Economic Development Commission, Michele Meyer-Shipp - Chief Executive Officer of Dress For Success, and Monique Winfree - Greater West Community Market Director, Community and Business Development for JP Morgan Chase Bank.

“It’s important to know that the world is going to need you to be exactly who you were created to be,” said Marshall to the group of girls. “Everyone has a gift, it’s theirs and it’s unique to only them. One of the best days in someone’s life is realizing what they get to use their gift for and how they will continue to make an impact on others’ lives.”

Finally, to cap off the day, the girls took a behind the scenes tour of PGA Frisco and all that it takes to bring a major championship to life. Downstairs at the Home Office, the girls had a peak behind the curtain of the media center for tournament week while also hearing from the Northern Texas PGA Staff about unique opportunities within the industry and how you can get started on a path to a career in the game. Additionally, the group took a stroll through the grounds over towards the PGA District where they received an exclusive look at the PGA Teaching & Coaching Center powered by T-Mobile, Volunteer Headquarters, and ended their time together with a putting competition on the Dance Floor — a putting green spanning over two acres — right at the center of all the action for the next major championship.
