A Championship Moment for Team North Florida

In photo-finish fashion, Team North Florida claimed victory at the 2025 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup on a rain-soaked Carmel Country Club. The all-star team created a lasting memory by sinking a birdie putt on the final hole to break a tie for first.

How the PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup, Golf’s Major for Veterans, Got Started

The origins of the PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup can be traced back to 2016 — particularly following the vision of U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and PGA HOPE program founder, Chris Nowak. Now in its ninth edition, the PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup continues to leave a legacy of tradition, excellence and competition — all thanks to Chris’s continued heart and dedication to PGA HOPE and the Veterans served through the program.

Passion, pride, competition, honor — all of these themes and more ramp up to the highest degree every May at the beginning of PGA Championship week. Even though camaraderie and community remain at the forefront of PGA HOPE, don’t be fooled – each team brings with them a level of zeal and ‘chip on their shoulder’ energy driven by the support from their home PGA Section. Let’s get to know the teams who have made the journey to Charlotte for the 2025 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup.

Our Heroes’ Major Championship

For PGA HOPE Graduates, the PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup is an experience unlike any other. The event celebrates the PGA HOPE Program by providing a unique and memorable experience for our military Veterans and the PGA Professionals who work tirelessly to positively impact Veterans’ lives.

This annual event in conjunction with the week of PGA Championship, began in 2016 and is named after the Secretary of Veteran Affairs in recognition of the Memorandum of Understanding between the PGA of America REACH Foundation and the Department of Veteran Affairs. Each team is made up of four Veterans from a PGA HOPE program and one PGA or LPGA Professional.
